The Key to What-If Statements

Updated: Dec 28, 2019

Let your what-if statement lift you up like a balloon

My sister was telling me about a difficult situation she would soon have to undergo. I won’t get into the details because that is for her to tell. But the details don’t really matter. Everyone has struggles and can recall a difficult situation. And what all difficult situations have in common is they make us feel like a black hole of doom has opened up inside of us.

I was listening to The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks when she had walked in. I was feeling so good from listening that I wanted to share some goodness with her. I suggested she use what-if statements to help keep her energy high and to ward off the anxiety brought on by anticipation of the event. At first the statements we came up with included the negative situation within them. When she said them she seemed focused like she was working. What-ifs should get your mind out of working or problem solving mode. You should not be focused on the problem. This will just continue the negative feeling.

The key to what-if statements is to make your energy light. If you do not immediately feel good when saying your what-if, then you need to rework it. A what-if statement should distract the mind from negativity and prompt positive thinking so that you feel good and therefore raise your vibration.

So we reworded my sister’s what-if to remove the negative situation from the statement. It took a few tries. But finally I just way simplified it and said “What if it’s easy?”. She immediately laughed and smiled and repeated it. Yes! That is the reaction you want from a what-if statement. They should not be work or make you dwell on the problem. Details are not necessary either. You know what you are talking about. Well really you do not want any details because the details contain the problem. Think of words that express the the opposite of your problem. If the problem has scarcity at its core think of abundance. If the problem is struggle think of ease. The point is to get your mind fantasizing so that the rest of you feels good. Feeling good is how we attract more good.

In The Law of Attraction, Abraham reminds us that the way our higher self communicates and guides us is through emotions. They explain there is really only two emotions: feeling good and feeling bad. It doesn’t matter if its sadness, guilt, anger or joy, delight, awe. All emotions are either good or bad. Good emotions are how our soul shows us the direction we should be going. Use your emotions as your gauge when creating a what-if statement. Move towards the feeling of lightness.
